Project Goal
With the support of Childhood, the NGO “Resource Centre” implemented an initiative aimed at strengthening the capacity of professionals to prevent sexual violence against children and effectively respond to such cases in Ukraine.
The project is designed to equip specialists with the necessary knowledge, practical skills, and resources to build a safe environment for children.
Project Components
Between February 2024 and January 2025, the team conducted 17 trainings on preventing sexual violence against children, with 248 professionals from 31 organizations participating. Among them were 2 trainings delivered at the request of specific institutions for their teams, demonstrating a growing recognition of the importance of such capacity building during the onboarding of new staff. For the first time this year, specialized trainings for social workers were introduced, focusing on a survivor-centered approach. The training methodology was interactive and practical — participants worked with case studies and learning scenarios to apply their knowledge in real-life situations.During the trainings, the team received valuable insights into the challenges faced by different sectors. In particular, social workers frequently asked how to properly conduct conversations with children in practice and where to seek support within the humanitarian sector. These findings will help improve future programs so that professionals receive not only knowledge but also practical tools for handling cases of sexual violence against children.
About the Project
This initiative contributes to the development of a systemic approach to preventing and responding to sexual violence against children in Ukraine.
It brings together professionals from various fields — social work, education, and humanitarian organizations — to jointly create a safe environment for every child.
Location: all regions of Ukraine
"It is important to us that knowledge does not remain just theory. We strive to give specialists simple and understandable tools that they can apply the very next day in their work with children. This helps specialists feel confident, and children feel safe."
